A major security lapse happened at the official residence of Kerala Health Minister Veena George in Thiruvananthapuram on the morning of Saturday, 21 February. Youth Congress activists entered the minister’s residence and placed a wreath at the door, demanding her resignation.
At the time of the incident, only three police officers were on duty. Additional forces arrived 15 minutes later to remove the activists, who have since been arrested. More police personnel have now been deployed for security. The minister was attending an official event in Pathanamthitta during the protest.
The Youth Congress is protesting over alleged medical negligence at Alappuzha MCH (Medical College Hospital). They are demanding that the Health Minister resign, and more protests are expected across the state today.
Meanwhile, police have also filed a case against Praveen and about 15 others, Youth Congress workers, for allegedly disrupting a press conference at the Government MCH in Alappuzha.
According to reports, the group entered the Telemedicine Hall in J Block, waved party flags, shouted slogans, and even climbed on tables. Their actions reportedly intimidated officials, including Principal Dr. B. Padma Kumar, Dr. Harikumar, Dr. Lakshmi, and four police officers who were present at the scene.
This incident highlights concerns over security at official residences and government institutions, as well as the growing public anger over medical negligence cases in the state. Authorities are now taking steps to prevent such breaches and ensure safety.
