The South Korean tech giant said its Infinity-O Display, used in Galaxy S10, is a “milestone” for its display technology, although going forward, it will showcase a “full screen” look for upcoming smartphones.

Samsung’s US website opened a pre-order page for the much-hyped premium phone ahead of an “Unpacked” event slated for February 20 in San Francisco.

In the US, Samsung offered buyers up to $550 off a Galaxy S10 in a trade-in programme for previously released devices, Yonhap news agency reported.

The Galaxy S10 will hit the Korean market on March 8, while those who ordered in advance can get the smartphone four days before the official launch, according to the nation’s mobile carriers.

The South Korean tech giant is expected to launch the regular Galaxy S10, S10+ with a bigger screen and S10 Lite, a budget model.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy S10 and S10+ are expected to come with Galaxy Buds, Samsung’s wireless earphones that can be charged by placing the case on the back of the new smartphone, industry officials said.

Industry sources told IANS on Thursday that the sale of Galaxy ‘M30’ with a triple rear-camera system and a massive 5,000mAh battery will begin in the first week of March.

Samsung will bring Super-AMOLED Infinity V to display to ‘M30’, making it a power-packed offering for young millennials in the country.

Powered by latest Exynos 7904 processor, Galaxy ‘M30’ comes with 4GB RAM-64GB internal memory variant. The device is also likely to have a 6GB-128GB variant.

Samsung India in January launched Galaxy ‘M20’ and ‘M10’ smartphones at a starting price of Rs 10,990 and Rs 7,990 respectively to take on Xiaomi’s budget “Redmi” series in the country.

Galaxy ‘M20’ is priced at Rs 12,990 for the 4GB+64GB variant while the 3GB+32GB variant costs Rs 10,990.

Galaxy ‘M10’ is priced at Rs 8,990 for the 3GB+32GB variant and Rs 7,990 for the 2GB+16GB.

Both the devices were a complete sell-out on Amazon India on February 5, making an “unprecedented” first-day sale record for the South Korean tech giant.

This roll-out began in the US earlier this week, although the update started reaching European countries in December 2018, The Verge reported on Thursday.

Although this latest update has come to Samsung’s devices a lot more quickly than previous versions of Android did, the South Korean firm is still lagging behind Nokia, OnePlus and HTC with its update schedule.

One UI, which is Samsung’s latest take on Android 9 Pie, is specifically designed to make navigating on a massive screen easier.

The South Korean company showcased One UI with — a new visual flair, more rounded corners, splashes of colour across apps and redesigned icons — at its developers conference in November.

Other improvements in the new interface include a system-wide dark mode and larger “focus blocks” in apps like the gallery to reduce clutter and distractions, allowing users to focus and quickly navigate their phone.

The US roll-out of Android 9 Pie on Galaxy S9 and S9+ has begun just days before Samsung’s “Unpacked” event, scheduled to be held on February 20 in San Farncisco.

Samsung is expected to discuss the Galaxy S10, S10+, a so-called “lite” version of the S10, its folding phone and potentially even a 5G phone at the event, the report added.

Within the same size (11.5mm x 13.0mm), the 1TB chip doubles the capacity of the previous 512GB version by combining 16 stacked layers of Samsung’s most advanced “V-NAND” flash memory and a newly-developed proprietary controller.

Smartphone users will now be able to store 260 10-minute videos in 4K UHD format with 1TB eUFS (embedded Universal Flash Storage), whereas the 64GB smartphones are capable of storing 13 videos of the same size, the company said in a statement.

“The 1TB eUFS is expected to play a critical role in bringing more notebook-like user experience to the next generation of mobile devices,” said Cheol Choi, Executive Vice President of Memory Sales and Marketing at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung is set to unveil the Next-Gen premium Galaxy S10 in San Francisco next month which may have 1TB internal storage.

“Samsung is committed to assuring the most reliable supply chain and adequate production quantities to support the timely launches of upcoming flagship smartphones in accelerating growth of the global mobile market,” Choi added.

The 1TB chip also possesses exceptional speed, allowing users to transfer large amounts of multimedia content in significantly reduced time.

At up to 1,000 megabytes per second (MB/s), the new chip features approximately twice the sequential read speed of a typical 2.5-inch SATA solid state drive (SSD).

The company said it plans to expand the production of its fifth-generation 512Gb “V-NAND” chip at its Pyeongtaek plant in South Korea throughout the first half of 2019 to fully address the anticipated strong demand.

Galaxy M20 will be priced at Rs 12,990 for the 4GB+64GB variant, while the 3GB+32GB variant will cost Rs 10,990.

The new Galaxy M series devices, available on Amazon India starting February 5, come with infinity-V display, dual camera with ultra-wide lens, and a new Samsung Experience UX.

A big 5000mAh battery powers the Galaxy M20 and the power management feature has a multi-layered technology system that ensures low power consumption, the company claimed.

There’s type-C fast-charging with a 15W in-box charger.

It is powered by Samsung’s latest Exynos 7904 octa-core processor.

Both Galaxy M20 and M10 sport dual rear cameras with ultra-wide feature.

Galaxy M Series customers on Jio 4G would be entitled to double-data offer on Rs 198 and Rs 299 plans.

The panel-making unit of Samsung Electronics Co said it will roll out the UHD OLED panels with pixel counts of 3,840 by 2,160 in February, Yonhap news agency reported.

Samsung Display said the displays have a high resolution, low blue light and a wide viewing angle, allowing it to tackle the premium segment.

The company said the OLED panels are thinner and more energy efficient than their LCD products, although they can be expensive by about $50-60 than a comparable LCD panel.

In 2019, market observers expect growing demand for laptops using UHD OLED panels, which are better for watching high-resolution content and playing games.
