The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has started expanding its free coaching programme to help students prepare for the JEE and NEET entrance exams. The programme is now available through 155 selected Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools across Bihar.
The initiative is aimed at helping students who may not be able to afford expensive private coaching. Through the programme, students can receive guidance from experienced teachers and prepare for some of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations.
Classes Led by Experienced Teachers
BSEB Chairman Thiyagarajan SM said experienced teachers are conducting the coaching classes. The programme has already helped a number of students prepare for and qualify in JEE and NEET-related examinations.
The board originally started the programme at just two schools — Bankipur Girls’ School and Patna Collegiate School in Patna. Students there were provided with free accommodation and meals along with coaching.
The success of the initial programme encouraged the board to expand the initiative to more locations.
Physical Classes at 21 Centres
At present, physical coaching classes are being conducted at 21 centres. Each centre has teachers with experience in preparing students for competitive examinations.
The board plans to expand the programme further so that students from all 155 model schools can benefit from coaching.
Online classes are also being planned. This will allow students in schools that do not yet have regular physical coaching to access lessons from experienced teachers.
Support From the Government
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has supported the initiative and encouraged the BSEB to expand and improve the programme.
The main aim is to give more students an opportunity to prepare for competitive exams without putting a heavy financial burden on their families.
Private coaching for JEE and NEET can be expensive, particularly for students who need to attend classes for several years. Free government-supported coaching could therefore provide an important opportunity for students from economically weaker families.
Use of Technology in Classrooms
The BSEB is also using technology to improve the quality of teaching. Schools are being provided with smart TVs and interactive boards so that students can watch lessons and learn from expert teachers.
The board also plans to introduce live classes through an e-Studio facility. This will allow teachers to conduct lessons that can be viewed by students in different schools.
Technology will help connect students in different parts of Bihar with experienced teachers without requiring them to travel long distances.
More Students Expected to Benefit
According to the BSEB, several students have already benefited from the coaching programme and qualified for JEE and NEET examinations. The board hopes that the expanded programme will help many more students achieve similar results.
The initiative is also expected to reduce the gap between students who can afford private coaching and those who cannot.
With physical classes, online coaching and digital learning tools, the BSEB hopes to create a stronger support system for students preparing for competitive exams.
If the programme continues to expand successfully, it could give thousands of Bihar students a better chance to pursue careers in engineering, medicine and other professional fields.
