The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is partnering with the Centre for Creative Learning (CCL) at IIT Gandhinagar to launch a new online learning programme called ‘3030 Eklavya’. The programme will officially begin on August 15, 2026, and aims to improve the teaching and learning of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computational Thinking (CT), and STEM subjects, which include Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The new initiative is designed for both students and teachers. It aims to make learning more practical, interactive, and engaging by using activities, projects, and real-life examples. CBSE hopes the programme will help students build important skills that will prepare them for future careers in technology and innovation.
Earlier this year, CBSE introduced a new curriculum framework for AI and Computational Thinking for students in Classes 3 to 8. The framework focuses on helping children develop logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and digital skills from an early age. It also teaches students how artificial intelligence works and how it is used in everyday life.
According to a CBSE notification released on April 9, 2026, AI and Computational Thinking will be one of the main focus areas for the 2026–27 academic year. Schools are expected to gradually include these subjects in classroom learning through age-appropriate lessons and activities.
To ensure that schools are ready for the new curriculum, CBSE has planned more than 450 district-level meetings across the country. These meetings will provide guidance to school leaders and teachers on how to introduce the new subjects effectively. Experts will also share teaching methods, learning resources, and best practices for classroom implementation.
The 3030 Eklavya programme uses interactive learning methods instead of only traditional classroom teaching. Students will take part in hands-on activities, puzzles, games, coding exercises, and problem-solving tasks that make learning enjoyable and help them understand difficult concepts more easily.
The programme also encourages students to develop critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and analytical skills. By working on practical projects, students will learn how to apply AI and STEM concepts to solve real-world problems, preparing them for higher education and future jobs.
Teachers will also benefit from the programme through training sessions and learning materials that will help them confidently teach AI, Computational Thinking, and STEM subjects. This will improve the overall quality of education in schools and ensure that students receive up-to-date knowledge in emerging technologies.
