Meta Bans Australian Users Under 16 December

Starting December 10, users in Australia under the age of 16 will no
longer be allowed to use Meta’s social media platforms, including
Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

This is because of a new Australian law that bans teens under 16 from
using social media. To follow the rules, Meta will begin deactivating
accounts or blocking new sign-ups for users under 16 from December 4.

Meta said it has been sending two-week warnings to thousands of Australian
teenagers aged 13 to 15. The warnings tell them to download their digital
data and delete their accounts. Meta confirmed that accounts will only be
removed after the law officially starts on December 10.
