The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has started accepting online applications for admission to Class 9 and lateral entry into Class 11 for the academic year 2027. Students who meet the eligibility requirements can apply online through the official admission portal.
The selection tests for both Class 9 and Class 11 admissions are scheduled to be held on April 10, 2027. The examinations will take place at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas located in the respective districts of the applicants.
Students and parents should complete the online application process before the deadline. The last date to submit applications is September 30, 2026. Applicants are advised to carefully check the eligibility conditions and provide the correct details while filling out the form.
Free Education and Facilities
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are residential schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Students selected for admission receive education along with several facilities.
The schools generally provide boarding and lodging, uniforms and textbooks without tuition fees. However, students studying in Classes 9 to 12 are required to pay Rs 600 per month as Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (VVN), subject to the applicable rules and exemptions.
Eligibility for Class 9 Admission
For Class 9 admission, candidates must meet specific conditions set by NVS. Students should be bonafide residents of the district from which they are applying. They must also be studying in Class 8 during the relevant academic year at a government-recognized school located in the same district.
Candidates applying for Class 9 admission should have been born between May 1, 2012, and July 31, 2014.
Another important requirement is related to the student’s previous school. The district where the candidate resides and the district where their Class 7 school was located must be the same.
Students who have already passed Class 7 in an earlier academic year are not eligible to apply under the Class 9 lateral entry admission process.
