NEET PG 2026 Exam Details and New Rules

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will release the NEET Postgraduate (PG) 2026 exam city slip on August 11, 2026. This information will be available on the official portal, nbe.edu.in. The NEET PG 2026 exam is set to take place on August 30. Candidates can expect their admit cards to be issued on August 27.

NEET PG is a qualifying exam for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses in medical institutions across India. Recently, the NBEMS introduced new rules for the 2026 exam. Candidates are now required to select three state preferences while applying, with their correspondence state as the first preference. This change aims to allocate test centers closer to candidates’ homes.

The NEET PG 2026 city slip will be shared nearly three weeks before the exam, allowing students time to plan travel and accommodations. The exam format has also been simplified, featuring 180 questions to be answered in 210 minutes. This adjustment provides candidates with more time per question while keeping the overall duration manageable.

It is important for all medical aspirants to note that passing the NEET PG exam is mandatory for admission to postgraduate medical courses in India. Even foreign nationals seeking seats in Indian medical institutions must qualify for this exam.
