Astronomers found something unusual while looking at radio data from faraway space. They noticed three bright signals close together. At first, it seemed like a coincidence, but it was not. Each signal came from the center of a different galaxy.
All three galaxies were interacting with each other. In each galaxy, there was a supermassive black hole that was active and sending out radio waves. This combination has not been clearly seen before.
While triple black hole systems have been predicted in theory, seeing one in the middle of a galaxy merger is very rare. The discovery was reported calmly, but it provides a real example instead of just computer models. It shows three black holes feeding at the same time, which makes this finding very important.
