Students and members of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), an influential student group, held a protest outside the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) office in Aizawl on Monday. They are calling for changes to improve the recruitment process and make the commission more efficient and trustworthy. The protesters blocked entry to the MPSC office, but the demonstration remained mostly peaceful except for a small clash between police and some demonstrators when officials tried to enter.
The students argue that recent issues with recruitments have caused problems for job seekers, especially with the One Time Registration (OTR) system. They want this system replaced with more specific application forms based on the needs of each position. The MZP also asked for a chance for candidates who were rejected due to incomplete documents to submit them offline, particularly those who passed written exams but were later disqualified during document checks.
MPSC officials defended the OTR system, saying it was created to make recruitment simpler and fairer. In an official statement, the commission explained its position on the matter.
