₹12,764 Crore Given to TN Farmers

The Union government said on Tuesday that ₹12,764 crore has been
given to farmers in Tamil Nadu under the PM-Kisan scheme since 2019.
The government also said that more than one crore rural homes in Tamil
Nadu have received tap water connections with the support of the State government.

Under PM-Kisan, farmers who have cultivable land get ₹6,000 every year in
three instalments. The money is sent directly to their bank accounts
using Aadhaar through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Union Agriculture
and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramnath Thakur said that ₹4.09 lakh crore
has been given to farmers across India through 21 instalments since the
scheme began. He shared this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha
to questions raised by MPs C. N. Annadurai and G. Selvam.

To make sure only eligible farmers get the money, the government made Aadhaar
linking, Aadhaar-based payments, and e-KYC compulsory. Districts like Cuddalore,
Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram received a large
share of the funds.
