In another setback for air passengers, the launch of the new plaza at Chennai Airport has been postponed once again. The facility was scheduled to be inaugurated on Saturday, but the event has now been deferred.
According to officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the postponement was linked to the cancellation of Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu’s planned visit to Chennai.
The minister was expected to travel to the city on Saturday to attend the launch of the airport plaza. However, his visit was cancelled after he was called to New Delhi to participate in the BRICS Summit.
The repeated delay has caused disappointment among passengers and others who were waiting for the new facility to become operational. The plaza is expected to improve the airport experience by providing additional facilities and a more convenient space for passengers and visitors.
Officials are expected to announce a new date for the inauguration after the minister’s schedule is finalised. Until then, passengers will have to wait for the facility to officially open.
The latest postponement comes after earlier delays in the launch, adding to concerns among passengers who have been expecting the new airport facility to open soon.
