Akal Takht Calls on Indian PM Modi to Clarify Allegations Made by Canada

Amid strained relations between India and Canada following the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify the allegations made by the Trudeau government in Canada’s Parliament. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh urged the Indian government to address the allegations raised by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and ensure the protection of Sikhs worldwide.

This development comes after Canada and India expelled a senior diplomat each over Trudeau’s assertion of the possible involvement of “agents of the Indian government” in Nijjar’s killing in Surrey. Giani Raghbir Singh expressed concern over the news, drawing parallels with historical events like Operation Bluestar, the 1984 Sikh genocide, and the brutal massacre of Sikh youth in Punjab. He called the situation unfortunate and unsettling for Sikhs worldwide.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami emphasized the need for both countries to collaborate in finding the truth and maintaining cordial relations.
