Cyclone Murasu LIVE Updates: Cyclone Causes Destruction in Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Cyclone Murasu has caused widespread damage in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. Thousands of trees were uprooted, electric poles were damaged, and several fishing boats were destroyed as the cyclone hit the coast early on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. People living in affected areas shared their frightening experiences during the cyclone.

Several areas, including Bapatla and Prakasam districts, experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds. The severe weather damaged agricultural crops and caused flooding in many places. People faced difficulties as rainwater entered homes and roads.

During a meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and asked officials about the condition of electricity poles and power stations. Officials informed him that no electricity poles had fallen and there were no power outages reported anywhere.

According to reports available at 5:30 a.m., the cyclone was still making landfall and was expected to complete the process within the next two hours. The storm was moving slowly at a speed of around 9 kmph. Several districts were expected to receive heavy rainfall throughout the day.

The districts facing possible heavy rainfall include West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Markapuram, Prakasam, and Nellore. Authorities have advised people to remain alert, follow safety instructions, and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.

In Ongole, located in Prakasam district, several thatched houses collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds. Many people were reportedly stranded, and rescue teams were working to help those affected by the cyclone.

The cyclone also caused damage to a statue of Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu in Ongole. The statue fell after a nearby tree was uprooted by the strong winds.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to protect people in the affected areas. Residents have been urged to stay indoors, follow official updates, and cooperate with emergency teams until the cyclone’s impact reduces.
