Dubai is hosting a grand Diwali celebration, bringing together people from around the world. The Indian Consulate in Dubai, along with FOI Events, organized a special event featuring diplomats from 18 countries, UAE officials, and members of the Indian community.
The celebrations kicked off with cultural displays from seven partner nations: Singapore, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and Mauritius. Diplomats and representatives from these countries joined over 5,000 attendees to mark the Festival of Lights. This was the first time such a large-scale international event was held in Dubai during Diwali.
Country-themed stalls showcased unique traditions and customs from each participating nation. The event also featured performances by the Dubai Police Band and the PRERNA Group, which highlighted the talents of individuals with special needs. Cultural acts by artists from Nepal and Sri Lanka added vibrant energy to the festivities.
Dance and rangoli competitions allowed participants to showcase their creativity. Diplomats noted how Diwali’s universal message of unity resonates globally, with many countries celebrating it in different ways but sharing the same spirit of togetherness. The UAE’s diverse society makes such celebrations particularly meaningful, fostering connections between people of all backgrounds.
