Darnell Wright Signs $116 Million Deal with Bears

Darnell Wright has signed a massive four-year contract extension worth $116 million with the Chicago Bears, making him the highest-paid right tackle in NFL history. The new deal includes $93 million in guaranteed money and is worth an average of $29 million per season, placing him among the highest-paid offensive linemen in the league.

The contract shows how important Wright has become to the Bears since joining the team in 2023. Over the past three seasons, he has developed into one of the NFL’s most reliable offensive linemen and has started every game he has played. His consistent performances have made him a key part of Chicago’s plans for the future.

Wright has played a major role in protecting quarterback Caleb Williams and improving the team’s offense. During the 2025 season, the Bears allowed far fewer sacks than in previous years. The team ranked third in the NFL for the fewest sacks allowed per pass attempt, showing the strength of its offensive line.

The Bears also enjoyed success in the running game, finishing with the third-best rushing attack in the league. Their passing offense also improved, ranking 10th overall, with Wright playing an important role in both protecting the quarterback and creating space for running backs.

Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles praised Wright after the contract extension. He described him as a cornerstone of the franchise and highlighted his leadership, hard work, and steady performances since arriving in Chicago. Poles said Wright has become an important leader both on and off the field and expects him to continue performing at a high level.

Last season, Wright played through an elbow injury but still produced outstanding performances. His efforts earned him Second-Team All-Pro honors, and he finished fourth in the NFL in pass-block win rate, proving he is one of the league’s top offensive tackles. Before agreeing to the long-term extension, the Bears had already exercised his fifth-year contract option, showing their confidence in his future.

Despite signing one of the biggest contracts for an offensive lineman, Wright remained humble. He said he is focused on improving his game, staying consistent, and helping the Bears win more matches. He also expressed his hope of spending his entire NFL career with the Chicago Bears.

The long-term contract gives the Bears stability on their offensive line and strengthens the team’s foundation for the future. With Wright protecting the quarterback and leading the line, Chicago hopes to continue improving and become a strong contender in the NFL over the coming seasons.
