Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has quickly become one of the most exciting young cricketers in India. The talented player from Bihar made headlines with his outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2025, he became the youngest player in IPL history to score a century, and in the following season, he won the Orange Cap as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. His impressive performances also earned him a place in the Indian national team.
After making his international debut, Sooryavanshi toured England with the Indian team. However, the young batter found it difficult to score runs against the strong English bowling attack. Despite the disappointing tour, he bounced back well in the next series against Zimbabwe, where he scored two half-centuries and showed his ability to recover from setbacks.
Former Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane recently spoke about Sooryavanshi’s future in Test cricket during a podcast. Rahane praised the youngster’s talent but advised fans and experts not to expect too much too soon. He said that there is a big difference between performing in the IPL and succeeding in international cricket.
According to Rahane, the IPL is a fast-paced tournament where conditions are different and chasing targets can often be easier. In international cricket, especially in Test matches, players face stronger bowling attacks, different playing conditions, and much greater pressure. He said young players need time to adjust to these challenges.
Rahane stressed that Sooryavanshi should be allowed to develop naturally without unnecessary pressure. He believes that with patience, hard work, and regular opportunities, the young batter has the potential to become an important player for India in all formats of the game.
At present, Sooryavanshi is concentrating on India’s domestic cricket season. He has been appointed vice-captain of his team for the Duleep Trophy, showing the confidence that selectors have in his leadership and cricketing ability. The tournament will give him another chance to improve his skills and gain valuable experience.
India’s next international assignment will be a series against the West Indies in October. Strong performances in domestic cricket could help Sooryavanshi strengthen his chances of earning more opportunities in the national team. Cricket fans will be watching closely to see how the young star continues his promising journey.
