Delhi Police Raid NewsClick Offices and Journalists’ Residences Over Funding Allegations

Delhi Police’s Special Cell conducted raids at over 30 locations in Delhi, including the premises of NewsClick and the residences of its journalists. The media outlet had been accused of receiving funds from China. Electronic evidence, laptops, mobile phones, and data dumps from hard disks were seized during the operation.

Notable journalists associated with NewsClick, such as Bhasha Singh, Abhisar Sharma, and Sanjay Rajoura, were affected by the raids. This action follows allegations published in The New York Times linking NewsClick to Chinese propaganda via American millionaire Neville Roy Singham.

NewsClick had denied these allegations earlier. The raids were conducted based on a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
