Eoin Morgan Praises Punjab Kings’ Batting Depth and Priyansh Arya’s Fearless Approach

Mumbai (Maharashtra), April 20: Former England captain Eoin Morgan has praised Punjab Kings (PBKS) for their strong batting lineup in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He highlighted that the team no longer relies on just one player to win matches, but instead depends on collective performances.

Speaking during an IPL broadcast after PBKS defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Morgan noted that the team’s depth allows them to score high totals even if some players don’t perform well. This reduces pressure on key players like Shreyas Iyer, making the team stronger overall.

Morgan also praised young batsman Priyansh Arya for his bold and consistent play. He said Arya’s confident mindset and clear thinking make him a valuable asset to the team. Morgan credited Punjab Kings’ leadership, led by head coach Ricky Ponting, for supporting Arya’s long-term development.

PBKS currently leads the IPL table with five wins and one no-result, earning 11 points. LSG is eighth with two wins and four losses.

In their match against LSG, PBKS scored 254/7, with Priyansh scoring 93 runs in 37 balls, including four boundaries and nine sixes. Connolly also contributed significantly to the team’s total.

LSG had moments of resistance, with Ayush Badoni (35) and Mitchell Marsh (40) putting on a strong opening partnership, and Rishabh Pant hitting 43 runs, but it wasn’t enough to chase down PBKS’ big score.

With this win, PBKS became the first IPL team in history to remain unbeaten after six matches.
