Firecracker Ban in Red and Yellow Zones Near Mathura’s Krishna Janamasthan Temple and Shahi Eidgah Mosque

The Mathura district administration in Uttar Pradesh has enforced a ban on the storage, sale, and use of firecrackers in the red and yellow zones surrounding the Krishna Janamasthan temple and the adjacent Shahi Eidgah mosque. This decision, announced ahead of the Diwali festival, applies to a designated area of 13.37 acres constituting the red zone, which encompasses both shrines, along with an additional 20-acre yellow zone that includes localities like Govindnagar and Jagannnathpuri.

The rest of the city has been categorized as a green zone. The city magistrate stated that the ban is aimed at safeguarding the Krishna Janamasthan and Shahi Eidgah, a practice observed in previous years as well, with no firecracker shops permitted in the red and yellow zones around the temple and mosque.
