Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh secured his third medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya after winning bronze in the men’s 5000m final on Tuesday.
Gulveer clocked 13:32.75 to finish third. Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew won the gold medal with a time of 13:30.79, while Japan’s Tomonori Yamaguchi took silver in 13:31.43.
The bronze added to the two silver medals Gulveer had already won at the Games. He finished second in both the 10,000m and 1500m events, giving him three athletics medals in the same Asian Games edition.
With this achievement, Gulveer became the second Indian man to win three track-and-field medals at a single Asian Games, according to reports. His performance adds another significant milestone to his growing career in distance running.
Gulveer is also an Indian Army athlete, and he has established himself as one of the country’s leading distance runners. The Athletics Federation of India has previously identified him as India’s national record holder in the 5,000m.
His three-medal performance in Aichi-Nagoya further strengthens his record at major international competitions and highlights his versatility across middle- and long-distance events.
