Several Kashmiri political leaders, activists and human rights advocates have raised concerns over alleged human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during an international conference in Geneva.
The event was organised by the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) at the Geneva Press Club on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The current session is being held in Geneva from September 7 to October 7, 2026.
Participants at the conference included political representatives, journalists and members of civil society. Speakers discussed what they described as growing concerns over human rights conditions in areas under Pakistan’s administration and called for greater international attention to the issue.
UKPNP chairman Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri has separately urged the UN Human Rights Council to address what he described as a worsening human rights situation in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The participants called on the international community to examine the allegations and strengthen monitoring of human rights conditions in the region. Their statements form part of the broader political and human rights debate surrounding Jammu and Kashmir.
The conference took place alongside the ongoing UN Human Rights Council session, where governments, UN officials and civil society representatives are discussing a range of international human rights issues.
