India’s First Secretary in the UN Mission, Petal Gahlot, has strongly responded to Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s speech at the UN General Assembly. Gahlot emphasized that Pakistan should address its own human rights issues, especially concerning minorities and women, before accusing others. She dismissed Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue, reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India.
Gahlot criticized Pakistan for misusing the UN platform for baseless propaganda against India and highlighted the plight of minorities in Pakistan, including Christians, Hindus, Ahmadis, and Sikhs. She called out Pakistan’s sponsorship of international terrorism and urged it to take credible action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks.
In response, Pakistan’s UN Mission counselor, Saima Saleem, defended anti-India terrorists, describing them as part of a “freedom struggle” and accusing India of having a “global terrorist franchise.”
