India continued its strong start in shooting at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, by winning another silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane combined for a score of 1890.1 to finish second.
China won the gold medal with 1899.0 points, setting a new world record in the qualification round. South Korea finished third with 1884.2 points and took the bronze medal. The result gave India its third medal of the Asian Games, with all three medals coming from shooting.
Rudrankksh was the top-performing Indian shooter in the individual qualification round. He scored 631.8 points to finish third. Himanshu Dhillon scored 630.0 points and finished seventh, while Parth Mane recorded 628.3 points and finished 10th.
Rudrankksh and Himanshu also qualified for the individual final. Their qualification gives India another opportunity to add to its shooting medal tally at the Games. Parth, despite contributing to the team’s silver-medal performance, did not qualify for the individual final.
India had already won two silver medals in shooting before the men’s team event. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event. Elavenil later added another silver medal in the individual event.
The shooting performances have given India a strong start at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The results also show the depth of India’s shooting team, with several athletes reaching medal rounds across individual and team competitions.
India is also competing strongly in other sports at the Games. The women’s cricket team has reached the final after defeating Bangladesh, while MMA fighter Suchika Tariyal has secured at least a bronze medal by reaching the semifinals of the women’s 60kg category.
With more shooting events still to come, Indian athletes will look to build on the early success. The performances of Rudrankksh and Himanshu in the individual final will be closely watched as India continues its medal campaign in Japan.
