Indian Navy Frees Vessel from Pirates

The Indian Navy successfully rescued the fishing vessel Azini after it was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia. The operation lasted around 48 hours and ended safely, with all 20 crew members rescued without injuries or casualties.

The vessel was reportedly hijacked last month near the northeastern coast of Somalia. The pirates took control of the ship, raising concerns that it could be used to carry out further attacks on other vessels in the region.

Following the incident, the Indian Navy quickly launched a rescue operation. A warship and a reconnaissance aircraft were deployed to locate and monitor the hijacked vessel. After carefully tracking the ship, the Navy took steps to prevent the pirates from escaping.

Indian Air Force commandos were also deployed aboard a C-17 aircraft to support the operation. Working together, the Navy and Air Force teams successfully secured the vessel and rescued all the crew members.

The successful operation highlights the Indian Navy’s ability to respond to complex maritime security threats. It also demonstrates the importance of coordination between India’s armed forces.

The rescue further highlights India’s role in maintaining security and protecting ships travelling through the Indian Ocean Region, particularly in areas affected by piracy.
