Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a crucial five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2026 clash at Chepauk. Ishan Kishan led the charge with an impressive 70-run knock, while Pat Cummins took three wickets to restrict CSK to 180/7.
Chasing 181 on a slow pitch was challenging, but Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen combined for 75 runs in just 32 balls. Their partnership powered SRH to 181/5 in 19 overs. This win pushed SRH into the playoffs with 16 points, while Gujarat Titans also qualified with the same points.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are already through, leaving one more playoff spot up for grabs. CSK remains in contention with 12 points from 13 matches.
In the first innings, Cummins showed his skill by taking three wickets. Samson hit a strong start for CSK but was eventually caught by Kishan. Kartik Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad put on 42 runs, but Cummins returned to dismiss them. Dewald Brevis scored 44, but SRH’s bowlers kept CSK in check.
SRH’s chase started poorly as Travis Head fell early, but Klaasen and Kishan turned things around. Kishan’s 70 included seven fours and three sixes, while Klaasen hit 47 off 26 balls. They neutralized CSK’s spinners before losing partners in the middle.
Despite losing wickets, SRH managed to chase down the target comfortably. Cummins was the standout bowler for CSK but couldn’t prevent their loss.
The match concluded with SRH securing a playoff spot and setting up an exciting race for the remaining IPL 2026 qualification spots.
