MIAMI (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have brought back Ronald Acuña Jr. from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday’s game against the Miami Marlins. Acuña, a right fielder, has been out since May 2 with a strained left hamstring.
Braves manager Walt Weiss didn’t confirm if Acuña would play in the upcoming four-game series. He mentioned that the playing surface at Miami’s loanDepot Park could impact Acuña’s return, as it can be tough on soft tissues like hamstrings and quads.
Mike Yastrzemski started in right field for Monday’s game. Acuña left a game against the Rockies on May 2 with hamstring tightness while trying to run out a ground ball. He grabbed at his hamstring halfway down the base path before leaving.
Acuña, a five-time All-Star and the 2023 National League MVP, is batting .252 this season with two homers, nine RBIs, 17 runs, and a team-high seven stolen bases. He had played in all 34 games this year until his injury, which followed a torn ACL he suffered in May 2024, limiting him to 144 combined games over the past two seasons.
The Braves continued their strong performance, defeating the Boston Red Sox 8-1 on Sunday. This win marked their 13th series victory in 15 games, with only one series loss and a split in a four-game set.
Additionally, the Braves placed infielder Kyle Farmer on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 16 due to a strained right forearm.
