Muslim Organization Urges ASI to Exclude Post-2003 Additions from Bhojshala Survey

A Muslim organization has urged the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to exclude any items added to the contentious Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex after 2003 from its ongoing survey. The ASI team, surveying as directed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, faced objections from the president of the Kamal Maula Mosque Welfare Society, Abdul Samad.

Samad emphasized the need to focus the survey efforts solely on the original premises and not on any additions made post-2003. Amid tight security, he communicated his reservations to the ASI, advocating for a consolidated approach rather than spreading efforts across the complex. The survey, initiated on Friday, aims to conduct a scientific assessment of the complex, which holds religious significance for both Hindus and Muslims.
