With only a few days left for the election campaign to end, residents of Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) in Chennai met candidates contesting in the Assembly elections for the Sholinganallur constituency on Saturday.
The interaction took place during a “meet your candidate” event organized by the Federation of OMR Residents Associations. The event gave residents a chance to directly talk to candidates, ask questions, and understand their plans for the area.
Several candidates attended the event, including Aravind Ramesh, the current MLA and candidate from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; K. P. Kandan, a former MLA from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam; Jayalakshmi Raman from the Naam Tamilar Katchi; and ECR P. Saravamamoorthy from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
The candidates paused their campaign activities to take part in the event. They shared their promises and plans for improving the constituency, focusing on issues like infrastructure, traffic, water supply, and public services.
Residents used this opportunity to raise their concerns and expectations. The event helped create a direct connection between voters and candidates, allowing people to better understand who they want to support in the upcoming elections.
