‘One of the best catches Ive ever seen live’: Sachin Tendulkar lauds Shreyas Iyers relay catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya

Sachin Tendulkar Calls Shreyas Iyer’s Catch One of the Best He’s Ever Seen

Mumbai (Maharashtra), April 17 (ANI): Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar recently praised Shreyas Iyer’s incredible relay catch that led to Hardik Pandya’s dismissal during the Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

During the game, Iyer displayed exceptional athleticism by sprinting from long-on and leaping to reverse-cup a ball hit by Pandya. He then tossed it to Xavier Bartlett for the final catch. Replays confirmed his precise execution, making this moment a key turning point in PBKS’s victory over MI.

In a social media post, Tendulkar highlighted how Iyer’s catch stood out not only for its physical skill but also for his quick thinking and awareness. He noted Iyer’s ability to judge the ball’s speed and trajectory while avoiding the boundary rope, all while coordinating perfectly with his teammate in mid-air. Tendulkar called it one of the best catches he’s ever seen live.

The Punjab Kings ultimately won the match by seven wickets, leaving them unbeaten in the tournament. MI’s Quinton de Kock scored a significant 112 runs, but PBKS’ strong bowling and batting ensured their victory. Arshdeep Singh was particularly effective with 3/22, earning Player of the Match honors.

In response, PBKS chased down the target quickly, thanks to Prabhsimran Singh’s unbeaten 80 and Shreyas Iyer’s fluent 66. This win moved PBKS to first place in the standings, while MI dropped to ninth.
