Sairaj Bahutule, Punjab Kings’ spin bowling coach, has praised bowler Arshdeep Singh and batter Prabhsimran Singh for their outstanding performances in the team’s dominant seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday.
Arshdeep took three wickets for just 22 runs in four overs, restricting MI to a total of 195/6. Despite Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten 112-run knock, Arshdeep’s impressive bowling figures helped limit MI’s score. Prabhsimran then made the chase seem easy with an unbeaten 80 off just 39 balls, guiding PBKS to victory in 16.3 overs. Arshdeep earned the Player of the Match award for his performance.
Speaking after the match, Bahutule praised Arshdeep for his strong comeback, calling him a valuable asset for both India and Punjab Kings. He highlighted how T20 cricket demands adaptability and credited Arshdeep’s self-awareness and preparation. Bahutule noted that Arshdeep focused on his basics, improving his bowling accuracy with both the old and semi-new ball.
The coach also praised Prabhsimran for his consistent performances at the top of the order. He acknowledged the positive influence of head coach Ricky Ponting in the dressing room, which has helped batters like Prabhsimran perform well under pressure.
Mumbai Indians had started strong with a 122-run partnership between Quinton de Kock and Naman Dhir, but Arshdeep’s bowling turned the tide. Punjab Kings’ chase was driven by Prabhsimran and captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored 66 runs, ensuring their team reached the target comfortably.
Overall, it was a standout performance for both Arshdeep and Prabhsimran, earning PBKS a well-deserved victory in the IPL 2026.
