S Jaishankar Prays for Peace at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London on Diwali

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar marked the festival of Diwali with a visit to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London during his five-day trip to the UK. Expressing his prayers for peace, harmony, and prosperity for Indians globally, Jaishankar visited the Neasden Temple, also known as the BAPS temple. Accompanied by his wife, he engaged with the Indian community, acknowledging their contributions that elevate India’s standing worldwide.

The temple expressed gratitude for the minister’s participation in Diwali celebrations and shared a message of fostering a strong connection between Great Britain and Bharat. This visit followed Jaishankar’s Diwali tea with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Downing Street, where he conveyed best wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his UK stay, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold discussions with Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, participate in a Diwali reception, and attend events, including a repatriation ceremony for ancient temple sculptures from Uttar Pradesh. The visit holds significance amid ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement between India and the UK, reinforcing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
