In Erode district, K. A. Sengottaiyan has won the Gobichettipalayam Assembly seat in the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections with a clear victory.
He secured 71,380 votes and defeated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate N. Nallasivam by a margin of nearly 13,000 votes. Sengottaiyan contested this election under the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) banner.
This result is important because Sengottaiyan is a senior and experienced leader with strong influence in the Gobichettipalayam region. He earlier moved from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to TVK, making this election closely watched.
His victory shows that his personal popularity in the constituency remains strong. Many voters appear to have supported him despite his change in party.
