Supreme Court Issues Notice on VHP’s Free Bus Service for Sabarimala Pilgrims

The Supreme Court has accepted an appeal from the Kerala unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) challenging a Kerala High Court decision that denied permission to run a free bus service for Sabarimala pilgrims. The VHP argues that the existing Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are insufficient and in poor condition for the high volume of pilgrims.

The court issued notices to the State government, KSRTC, and the Travancore Devaswom Board, seeking their responses to the appeal. The VHP aims to provide free services to devotees amid increased demand and challenges related to the existing transportation system.
