Tamilisai Criticizes TVK Amid Majority Crisis

Tamil Nadu’s political uncertainty has intensified as debates over government formation continue, with multiple leaders trading accusations over alliance politics and majority numbers.
Tamilisai Soundararajan has strongly criticized Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Vijay, alleging that the party is attempting to form the government without clearly securing the required majority.
According to her, Governor R V Arlekar has reportedly asked TVK to present sufficient numbers before being invited to form the government.
She claimed that Vijay was sent back multiple times because the party could not yet demonstrate the required majority support.
TVK currently has 108 seats and, with the backing of Indian National Congress and left parties, has reached 116 seats.
However, the party still requires at least two more seats to comfortably cross the majority mark.
Tamilisai also accused M. K. Stalin of publicly speaking about democratic processes while allegedly creating political obstacles behind the scenes.
In addition, she criticized Thol Thirumavalavan, leader of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), claiming that although VCK initially suggested it would follow the left parties’ position, it is now delaying support discussions for political bargaining.
These accusations have added to the already tense political climate, where coalition negotiations remain unresolved.
If TVK is unable to prove majority support soon, concerns are growing over the possibility of Governor’s rule in Tamil Nadu until a stable government can be formed.
As parties continue negotiations and political statements become sharper, the state remains in suspense over who will ultimately take charge of the next government.
