In a devastating incident on Ghodbunder Road, Thane, a residential building became the site of tragedy as a fire broke out, claiming the lives of an elderly couple and injuring three other family members. The blaze was discovered around 2:30 am while the family slept on the first floor of Madvi Nivas building. The rapid spread of flames trapped the occupants, leading to a distress call from locals who alerted the police and fire brigade.
Despite prompt efforts to control the fire, the flat owner, identified as Abhimanyu Madvi (66), and his wife Ramabai Madvi (51), succumbed to the blaze. The injured family members were swiftly taken to a Thane hospital for treatment.
