Villivakkam Candidates Face Residents’ Civic Questions

In Chennai, the Federation of Anna Nagar Residents’ Associations held a virtual “meet the candidates” session for voters in the Villivakkam constituency. The event gave residents a chance to directly question candidates ahead of the elections.

The session showed that the election in Villivakkam may not depend only on party support, but also on local issues and civic problems. Residents focused on basic concerns like broken sewer systems, blocked or encroached footpaths, and increasing drug abuse in the area.

Three of the four main candidates joined the online meeting and answered questions from voters. They discussed their plans to improve public services and address the problems raised by residents.

However, S. R. Vijayakumar from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam did not attend the session as he was unavailable.

The interaction highlighted that voters are closely looking at how candidates plan to solve everyday issues in their neighborhoods, making local governance a key factor in the upcoming election.
