Several government schools in Delhi have secured prominent positions in the EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2026-27, highlighting their performance among schools across the country.
The rankings were released by EducationWorld in association with AZ Research Partners Pvt. Ltd. The nationwide survey covered around 18,000 respondents, including parents, principals, teachers, education professionals and counsellors across 34 cities. It assessed around 4,500 schools in 22 states using multiple parameters related to educational excellence.
In the State Government Day Schools category, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar (DBRA) CM Shri School, Sector 10, Dwarka, secured third place nationally with a score of 1,073. DBRA CM Shri School in Yamuna Vihar ranked fifth, while the schools in Sector 19, Dwarka, and Surajmal Vihar secured sixth and seventh positions respectively.
The national category was led by Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16D, Chandigarh, while GVHSS for Girls, Nadakkavu, Kozhikode, secured second place. The strong showing by Delhi’s DBRA CM Shri schools placed multiple government institutions among the leading state-government schools in the country.
Delhi also performed strongly in the Central Government Day Schools category. Army Public School, Delhi Cantt was ranked first nationally, while Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, secured fourth position. Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, Delhi, was placed eighth.
Schools serving students with special educational needs also featured prominently. Tamana Autism Centre – School of Hope, Delhi, was ranked among the leading special-needs schools, while Sanchetna, Noida, also secured a high position in the category. EducationWorld’s current ranking table places Tamana first and Sanchetna second in the Delhi-NCR special-needs category.
Private schools from Delhi-NCR also recorded strong performances in the rankings. Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, featured at the top of the Co-Ed Day Schools category, while The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar/Moulsari, and Nirmal Bhartia School shared the second position. Suncity School, Gurugram, and Shiv Nadar School were also among the leading schools.
Other Delhi-NCR institutions included Step by Step School, Noida, and Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10, Dwarka, which also featured among the nationally ranked schools.
EducationWorld said the 2026-27 rankings were designed to provide detailed comparisons across different types of schools rather than treating all institutions as one category. The survey assessed schools across several parameters, including teacher competence, leadership, infrastructure, sports education, teacher development and other aspects of school excellence.
The rankings provide an overview of how schools are perceived by parents and education professionals. EducationWorld itself notes that the rankings are based on the perceptions of surveyed respondents and should be used as one source of information when evaluating schools rather than as the sole basis for choosing an institution.
The strong representation of Delhi government schools in the 2026-27 rankings places attention on the performance of public education institutions alongside established private and central-government schools.
