New bangle collections for 'Rambha Tritiya'

New bangle collections for 'Rambha Tritiya'Rambha Tritiya the festival observed for harmony, prosperity and wellbeing falls on the 3rd day of the Tamil Month Karthika, (19th of November on the English calendar). The significance of this auspicious occasion is the 'Rambha Tritiya Fast' which is observed by unmarried women seeking harmonious marital relations, wellbeing and prosperity.

According to mythology, Rambha Tritiya Vrat was observed by Goddess Parvati to attain Lord Shiva as her husband. On this day, married women perform Savitri Puja under the banana tree. To get married, unmarried women observe Rambha Tritiya Vratam to get full merits of the Vratam. Some communities celebrate this festival during the month of May.

This occasion also owes its significance to Apsara Rambha, who emerged from the churning of the oceans. She is worshipped by women of some communities and symbolically represents womanly loveliness and amiability. This festival also owes its affiliation to Goddess Lakshmi where she is propitiated by offering wheat, grains and flowers as a symbol of welcoming wealth and harmony into ones homes.

As a representation of Apsara Rambha and Goddess Lakshmi, this auspicious occasion finds representation in a pair of Bangles which symbolizes womanhood, matrimony & prosperity. Worn on on both arms they also represent loveliness and amiability of the Indian woman. In order to help maintain this tradition and the auspiciousness of the occasion, the World Gold Council along with trade partners have initiated incentives, promotions and offers on Bangle Collections and for making Gold buying auspicious and beneficial to women who are observing the Rambha Tritiya Fast.

Leading Jewellers across the city including GRT, NAC jewelers, Gold Plus, Nathella Sampathu Chetty, Prince Jewellery and Shree Temple of Gold are introducing special bangle collections for women for this occasion.

"Rambha Tritiya is one of the sacred days in the Hindu calendar that finds specific mention in the ancient text 'Skandapuranam.' This festival has been observed by different communities during different months and has found significance in the present day environment. It is not only observed for seeking harmony, wellbeing & prosperity within a marital union or within a family, but it is also observed to dispel disharmony and for the wellbeing & prosperity of communities and society at a larger level" said Mr. K. Subramanian, Managing Trustee, Sri Bala Vinayakar Seva Trust.
