Recently Chief Minister Kalaignar M Karunanidhi saw the yet-to-be-released film 'Pazhasirajaa' at a special screening in the city. There appears to be a solid reason behind the screening arranged for Kalaignar, the patron of Tamil film industry. Sarath is said to requesting for 'tax exemption' for the film, scheduled for a November release.
The dubbing work of the Tamil version, which had been going on full-steam, has just been completed. Obviously, if the exemption from entertainment tax is to be sought, now was the ideal time. Those who were present at the venue assure, on condition of anonymity, that Kalaignar was very impressed with the film and is likely to give the 'nod' to Sarath's tax exemption request.
Kalaignar was heard enquiring with those present as to whether they saw the film 'Aadhavan' or not? Why the interest? 'Aadhavan' is produced by his grandson Udhayanidhi who has also played a role in the film. Those who were asked by Kalaignar replied in unison that the film was 'excellent', thereby filling Kalaignar's heart with happiness and satisfaction.
In a related development, Udhayanidhi is turning hero in his next home production. The story discussions are on and the story-telling team comprises C.V. Rajendran, a veteran director and one who is close to Kalaignar's family!
