Zoo Visitors Shelter After Chimp Escapes Enclosure
Visitors at the Indianapolis Zoo had a surprising and tense moment
on Friday morning when a chimpanzee managed to escape from its enclosure
and wandered around the zoo.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. when a female chimpanzee was seen
outside her designated area. As soon as zoo staff noticed the situation,
they asked all guests to shelter in place, meaning they had to stay where
they were for safety.
Zoo officials quickly responded and activated safety procedures.
The Indianapolis Fire Department was also called in to help if needed.
Their presence ensured that both the visitors and the animal stayed
safe during the situation.
The chimpanzee’s short adventure caused some worry, but zoo teams worked
to bring everything under control as fast as possible.
