Cyclone Ditwah Remnants Bring More Rain

For the third day in a row, the leftover part of Cyclone Ditwah continued
to bring heavy rain to parts of north Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai and
Tiruvallur districts, on Wednesday (December 3, 2025). Weather experts say
the system will become weaker and turn into a low-pressure area by Thursday
(December 4, 2025).

Since the weather system is slowly moving inland, the Regional Meteorological
Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow alert for Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and four
districts along the south coast, including Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari.
A yellow alert means heavy rain is expected on Thursday, and people should stay cautious.

Chennai, however, is not expected to see very heavy rain. The city will likely get
only light to moderate showers on Thursday, giving some relief after days of
continuous rainfall. Authorities are still monitoring the situation and advising
residents to stay safe, especially in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.
