Navi Mumbai Airport Begins Commercial Flight Operations
The Navi Mumbai International Airport started commercial flight operations today,
marking an important moment for India’s civil aviation sector. The new airport will help
increase air travel capacity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The first commercial flight, IndiGo flight 6E460 from Bengaluru, landed at the Navi Mumba
International Airport at 8 am. According to the airport operator, the aircraft was welcomed with a
ceremonial water cannon salute. This traditional gesture marked NMIA’s first commercial arrival and departure.
