Special New Year Trains Between Delhi, Katra
The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has announced special reserved train services between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to handle the large number of passengers expected during the New Year holidays. These special trains are being introduced to manage the heavy rush of pilgrims and tourists travelling to Jammu and Kashmir during this festive period.
Each special train will have 16 coaches and will run from today until January 1, 2026. Railway officials said the move is aimed at providing safer and more comfortable travel for devotees visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine, as well as holiday travellers heading to the region.
It will operate for five trips between today and December 31. The train will leave New Delhi at 11:45 PM and reach Katra at 12 noon the next day.
The return service, special train number 04082, will operate from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi. It will also make five trips between December 28 and January 1. The train will depart Katra at 9:20 PM and arrive in New Delhi at 10:00 AM the following day.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to book tickets in advance, as high demand is expected during the holiday season. The special services are part of Indian Railways’ efforts to ease congestion on regular trains and ensure smooth travel during peak periods.
