Russian Missiles Strike Kyiv Ahead of Talks

The Ukrainian capital Kyiv was hit by a major Russian attack in the early hours today. Loud explosions were heard across the city as air defence systems were activated to stop incoming missiles.

According to media reports, Russia fired several advanced Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, along with four Iskander ballistic missiles and a number of Kalibr cruise missiles. The attack caused multiple explosions in different parts of Kyiv.

Power outages were reported in Brovary, a town on the outskirts of the capital, and in nearby areas. Emergency services were rushed to affected locations, and residents were asked to stay in shelters while air raid alerts remained active.

The attack took place just one day before an important meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump. The two leaders are scheduled to meet in Florida over the weekend to discuss a possible agreement to end the war, which has been going on for nearly four years.

The timing of the attack has raised concerns, as it comes ahead of diplomatic talks aimed at finding a solution to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
