RAM, SSD Shortage Hits Due to AI Demand

The world is now facing a shortage of RAM and SSDs, mainly because AI companies are buying large amounts for their data centres. This has caused RAM prices to rise four times in just a few months. Some manufacturers, like Micron, have even stopped selling to regular consumers through their brand Crucial and are focusing on more profitable enterprise customers instead.

There are also rumours that PC maker Asus may start making its own DRAM memory chips. If it happens, the first chips could go into production as soon as next year, especially if memory prices don’t go back to normal.
