Gas Leak Causes Panic In Andhra Pradesh Village

Panic struck Ambedkar Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday after a gas leak at an oil well caught fire. The well is run by a production contractor of ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation).

According to early reports, there were no deaths or injuries, a company official told news agency PTI.

Residents said the gas spread like a thick mist and entered nearby residential areas, causing fear among villagers. As a safety measure, officials evacuated people from their homes and moved them to safer locations to prevent any accidents.

Preliminary information suggests that the incident happened while workover rig operations were being carried out at the well. During this process, a large amount of gas mixed with crude oil rushed out with force, spreading quickly toward the village.

Authorities and company officials are taking steps to control the fire and secure the area, while keeping residents safe.
