EPS Meets Shah, Clarifies No Alliance Talks

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said that he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss the current political situation in Tamil Nadu. However, he made it clear that alliance-related talks were not discussed during the meeting.

Palaniswami travelled to Delhi soon after announcing that the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) would be part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. His visit led to speculation about possible political alliances, which he later clarified.

Speaking to reporters at Tamil Nadu House in Delhi, Palaniswami said he was unable to meet Amit Shah earlier when the Union Minister visited Pudukottai, as he had other commitments at that time. He added that the meeting in Delhi was mainly to discuss general political issues in the State.

Palaniswami also said that Amit Shah had clearly stated that he would not interfere in the internal affairs of the AIADMK. He emphasized that the party would continue to make its own decisions independently.

The AIADMK leader’s remarks are seen as an effort to clear confusion and address rumours surrounding alliances ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
