Modi, German Chancellor Hold Key Talks in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met German Chancellor Merz at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Monday. This was the German Chancellor’s first visit to India and is seen as an important step in strengthening ties between the two countries. During the meeting, both leaders held detailed discussions to expand cooperation in several key areas.

Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz reviewed the progress of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years. They expressed satisfaction over the growth of relations and agreed to further deepen collaboration for mutual benefit.

The talks mainly focused on boosting trade and investment, as well as cooperation in advanced and high-end technologies. The leaders also discussed strengthening partnerships in defence, green and sustainable development, and science and research.

In addition, both leaders exchanged views on important regional and global issues. They were also scheduled to meet leading industry representatives to explore new opportunities for business cooperation and innovation between India and Germany.
