First Made-in-India C-295 Aircraft to Roll Out
The first ‘Made in India’ C-295 military transport aircraft is expected to roll out of an Indian factory before September this year, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Wednesday.
He said the project shows India’s strong commitment to building its own manufacturing strength, especially in the defence sector. The aircraft is being produced in India as part of efforts to increase local production and reduce dependence on imports.
Mr. Jaishankar made these remarks during a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares. Spain is a key partner in the C-295 aircraft project.
The minister said that such defence collaborations will help India develop advanced technology, create jobs, and strengthen its industrial base.
During the meeting, he also spoke about global security issues and stressed that the world must show “zero tolerance” towards terrorism. He called for stronger international cooperation to tackle terrorist threats.
The C-295 aircraft rollout is seen as an important milestone for India’s defence manufacturing and the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
