Creamy Tofu Tikka Masala Recipe for Vegans
Tofu Tikka Masala Recipe
Tofu Tikka Masala is an easy and tasty vegan dish that goes well with flatbreads or rice.
Ingredients:
500 gms tofu
1/2 cup dairy-free yoghurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
Instructions:
Cut it into small cubes.
In a bowl, mix the tofu cubes with vegan yoghurt, lemon juice, cumin powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, Kashmiri red chilli powder, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste. Cook until the onion becomes soft and the paste loses its raw smell.
Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, cumin, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cover the pan. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
Let the mixture cool and then blend it into a smooth paste. Keep aside.
In the same pan, heat some oil and cook the marinated tofu until it turns golden brown.
Add the masala paste to the tofu. Mix well. Add water if needed and adjust the spices. Cook until the gravy thickens.
Add coconut milk and simmer for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Your Tofu Tikka Masala is ready to serve!
